Victoria Early Life

Her parents worked as missionaries which saw her move around a lot as a child.

Along with her two older brothers, Victoria and her family left America and settled in Nigeria’s Benin City for a while.

At 16 years old the family returned to Kenya.

Her foundation of singing started as a member of the church choir, and Victoria also put pen to paper, writing her own music.

Victoria Career

In 2010, Victoria came to the attention of a Nigerian record label, Chocolate City. This was after a performance of her covering one of the label’s superstars Ice Prince songs, Oleku, went viral.

Victoria was the first female artist to be signed to Chocolate City, and she releases her first single Mtoto through the label in 2013.

She even travelled with her team to Los Angeles to film a music video for the song.

Since then, Victoria has released mixtapes and hit singles, including Oya, Heaven, HateMe, DoWhatYouWant, Show and Prokoto.

With her musical success, Victoria started collaborating with Africa’s biggest musicians, including Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Ommy Dimpoz, Nigeria’s Ice Prince and South Africa’s Khuli Chana, where she paid homage to Angelique Kidjo on the track AllTheWay.

In 2015, Victoria had two of her biggest collaborations – an all-female collaboration with Cynthia Morgan and Emma Nyra on Vex, and an all African collaboration for the empowerment anthem of the ONE campaign.

Victoria Controversy

In early 2019, Victoria made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Taking part in one of the viral music challenges, the songbird released a song where she refers to a Nigerian female artist and insults her.

Although names are never mentioned, everyone assumed it was superstar Tiwa Savage.

Although Victoria said she never mentioned names, it didn’t take long for Tiwa to respond on Instagram. With Nigerian celebrities calling Victoria out, she did apologise, but by then the beef had already been sealed in Africa’s music industry.

Victoria shared a video where she interviewed her parents on her Instagram account, where she asked them why they never spoke to her in Swahili.

Although she can’t speak the language, many have dragged for not using her mother tongue, but Victoria has made an effort to learn.

Victoria Relationship

Although she’s been single for a while and has spoken out on what she would like in a partner, Victoria has had a few high-profile relationships.

She dated her music collaborator and Chocolate City signee Ice Prince for about two years from 2015 to 2017.
