In Nairobi, you can be anything you want. A socialite, an international rapper, even a viral Tik Tok star. But as long as your face doesn't appear on a matatu, then you are still a nobody. That is how you get street credibility here.
Matatu graffiti is one of the most popular ways that Nairobi street culture is expressed. These moving pieces of art are seen by millions of people along on our roads.
Even superstars like like NBA player Steph Curry and Prison Break actor Robert Knepper aka T-Bag have shouted out their own matatu graffiti arts before.
And in 2016, T-Bag was happily surprised to come across a picture of a matatu splashed with his famous character on its back, "Apparently, this is a bus in Kenya."
The Belgian footballer and Liverpool star with Kenyan roots Divock Origi also brushed off some of his best Kiswahili to gush at his matatu graffitti, "Asanteni sana kwa mafans wangu wote wa Kenya na especially wale wamemake this cool art. Makes me feel proud of my roots. Tuko pamoja na Godbless Kenya!"
And now Tanasha Donna has just received her badge of honour from the streets too. Diamond's ex and baby mama can now stand up high on her her own two feet and receive her well-earned recognition.
She teased the all-white party set for Friday, December 11 at Nairobi's Afro Sayari Theme Park. "I’l be performing & i’l be having a bunch of my celebrity friends, plus a special guest with me on that day!" she announced on her Instagram.
