Khaligraph, Sauti Sol And Ethic Land MTV MAMAs Nominations

Khaligraph Jones, Sauti Sol and Ethic have landed nominations for the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards, which have been announced.

Khaligraph will battle it out for the Best Hip Hop award with some top rappers like South Africa's Nasty C and Ghanian Kwesi Arthur.

The two Kenyan boy groups Sauti Sol and Ethic have been nominated under the same category — Best Group— and will have to fight it out for the award against South Africans Blaq Diamond and Kabza De Small/DJ Maphorisa, as well as Rostam (Tanzania) and Calema (São Tomé and Príncipe).

Other major East African nominees for the awards include Tanzanians Diamond Platnumz (with two nominations), Zuchu (one) and Harmonize (one). And representing the show's host country Uganda, Sheebah has received two nominations.

The MTV Africa Music Awards Kampala 2021 will air on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) and MTV (DStv Channel 130) on February 20th 2021.. 

“The Most Decorated Rapper in the Continent, Omollo, Now lets get to Voting #respecttheogs,” said Khaligraph in reaction to his nom.

Sauti Sol recognized their own nomination by posting,

“Hey fam, we have been nominated for the #MTVMAMA2021 as the BEST GROUP in Africa 🌍. Voting is now open, let's get it.”
