Gospel musician and TV host, Kambua is speaking about her grief journey after losing her second born child.
Although it’s been 5 months since Kambua announced the loss of her son, Malachi, the singer says that it has not been easy dealing with the grief.
The musician shared her feelings and thoughts with her fans and followers on Instagram saying that the journey to healing was not an easy one.
“Every day I'm learning that healing is not a destination, it's a journey. I'm on a journey that I did not sign up for, but I'm braving it, every moment of every day,” wrote Kambua.
In February 2021, Kambua shared on her socials that her newborn baby had passed on shortly after he was born. Many of her fans were shocked by the news and messages of condolences and prayer were sent to her.
“Malachi knew how much he was loved, and so he did all he could to stay with us. With the help of a most dedicated team of doctors & nurses, our little baby fought, until Jesus healed him by taking him to Himself. Malachi is now free from pain, and any worldly care. Our tears fall freely because our hearts are broken beyond words” wrote Kambua.
The loss of her son was so traumatic that it made her take a long break on social media. In May, however, Kambua made a comeback on socials with news of a new song, Shukrani. According to her, the song was compiled after she experienced great pain from losing her son and then experiencing deep gratitude.
“Sometimes the waves of grief knock me off my feet, yet I know that they won't always wash over me. I know that one day it won't feel like I'm constantly navigating a minefield... One day it won't feel like my heart is carrying a rock. But until then, I will be kind to myself, and allow myself to feel everything I'm feeling. I will allow my rock, Jesus, to carry me. So as you witness my brokenness, may you also witness my healing,” wrote Kambua on her Instagram post.
Kambua’s journey has not been an easy one despite being strong in her Christian faith. Before conceiving her first child, Kambua had been married 6 long years without a child – something that had been long discussed by netizens. However, Kambua was ever jovial and when she announced that she was pregnant with her first child, her fans and followers were over the moon for her.
