South African government now denies reports claiming that a woman in the country gave birth to ten children at once.

This is after several news outlets reported that a 37-year-old woman in the country gave birth to decuplets.

According to the government, there is no proof yet that one Gosiame Thamara Sithole delivered the babies in the South African territories.

Speaking to News 24, the government spokesperson, Phumla William said that they have not found evidence to support that indeed the alleged woman gave birth to such a number of children at once.

“[The] government has been unable to verify the authenticity of this birth at our facilities, The Standard quoted Williams telling News 24.

The statement from the government is contrary to reports claiming that one Phumla gave birth to decuplets - three girls and seven boys.

The woman, a resident of Johannesburg, reportedly gave birth to the babies through cesarean section at a hospital in Pretoria, South Africa.

According to her husband, Teboho Tsotestsi, the woman gave birth to two more children as earlier detected by the doctors.

Tsotestsi said his wife gave delivered the babies just 28 weeks into her pregnancy.

He further revealed that his wife's pregnancy natural and had was not compromised by scientific tests.

Speaking to Pretoria News, Tsotesti said that he felt blessed after God gave him such a huge number of children.

"I felt blessed to be given this kind of blessings when many people out there need children. It’s a miracle I appreciate. I had to do my own research on whether a person can really conceive eight children,” Daily Nation quoted Tsotesti telling Pretoria News.

Though he was happy that his wife was going to give him eight children - as earlier noted by the doctor - he admitted that he had never heard nor seen someone have more than four children at once. He said he had to research his wife's pregnancy.

In an earlier interview with South African publication, his wife, Gosiame Thamara Sithole, revealed that in the early stages of the pregnancy, she found it tough to believe that she was going to have such a large number of babies, With time, however, she said she had to accept it and look forward to taking care of the children.

“I didn’t believe it... I was convinced it would be twins or triplets, not more than that. When the doctor me, I took time to believe it even when I saw the scans I didn't believe it. But, as time went by, I realized it was indeed true,” Daily Nation quoted Sithole.

Other than the ten newborns, the couple has six-year-old twins who are their firstborn.

If it true that the woman gave birth to the said children, then, she could have broken the Guinness Book of Record held by a 25-year-old Malian woman, Halima Cissé who gave birth to nine children in May this year.
