Singer demands respect

Diamond Platnumz on Wednesday took time to lecture Tanzanians on why he should be respected and praised.

Taking to his social media page, the Bongo Flava asked his fans to respect him because he does not produce "stupid" content but those that are well-done.

According to Diamond, his songs trend in several countries because he put serious work into them.

"Ukiona kijana kaamua kabuni kazi na inatrend basi anapaswa kupongezwa, kuheshimiwa na kusapotiwa zaidi ile awe mfano bora na wengine nao wabuni kazi," he said.

He further noted that he put a lot of thoughts into his work. Diamond said he had the option for doing shoddy work and it could trend too but that could have brought shame to the country.

"Kijana aliamua kuwaza chanya kwasababu kwa maslahi ya Taifa, maana angeweza kuweka video za utupu pia tena akatrend kiurahi na kulitia aibu taifa!" the singer wrote on his Instagram stories.

Advising the youth on how they can earn from YouTube, Diamond said, they can either create content that trends or that which amuses.

"Kijana, jukumu liko mikononi mwako... Ni eidha ubuni UJINGA ili watu waufatilie, au ubuni kazi ili inavyotrend ikuingizie kipato zaidi," he noted.

The Wasafi boss's statement comes at the time when his new music video, Baikoko, was named among the top fifty videos trending on YouTube worldwide.

He also revealed that his song, Waah which has so far garnered over 60 million views on YouTube gave him an income of Euros 32,266.53 (an equivalent to Ksh.4,212,602.58) by the time it only had over 39 million views.
