A large number of our celebrities either studied art/film in college or began their careers in show business right out of high school. Meanwhile, there are a few who pursued higher education and entered academia with the intention of pursuing a totally distinct profession before being pulled into the life of celebrity.

While a degree is not always required to become a celebrity, countless musicians and actors have obtained extensive training in their fields. Not every famous person drops out of school with nothing but a heart full of aspiration to pursue fame; in fact, some of our favorite artists are extremely well-educated, and we couldn't be prouder of their academic accomplishments.

These celebrities show that you should never judge a book by its (enticing) cover, as you'll be surprised to discover that some of our fav famous faces have very remarkable qualifications.

Nomzamo Mbatha

Nomzamo is widely regarded as South Africa's African queen. The media personality is an actress, television host, businessman, global brand ambassador, and UNHCR Spokesperson. Nomzamo epitomizes both beauty and intelligence, as she has a degree in Business and Commerce and is currently pursuing a second degree in accounting.

Thuli Phongolo

Thuli Phongolo is yet another leading lady on our list. Despite her on-again, off-again love affair with South African DJ and music producer DJ Maphorisa, the artist is one of our well-educated personal favourites. Thuli graduated from the University of Johannesburg with a degree in Strategic Marketing.

K Naomi

The next boss babe on our list is  Keitumetse Naomi Noinyane, more famously known as K Naomi. The South African model and Tv host shot to fame in 2012 and has since illuminated our screens and timelines. The media personality has a degree in Brand Building and Management, which is clearly demonstrated in how she was able to establish such a strong reputation in such a short period of time.

Ntando Kunene

The 2017 Miss South Africa is up next on our list. Ntando Kunene, who graduated from Wits University with a degree in Education and Honours in Curriculum Issues, is the epitome of beauty with a brain. The former beauty queen and mom-preneur is still making headlines, but she recently opened up about the difficulties of juggling motherhood, a career, and studies.

Zama Dube

Finally, there's Zama Dube, a former professional radio host. The media personality holds a Masters degree in African Literature from Wits University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Cinema and Media Studies at The University of California, Los Angeles.

We hope this list has inspired you as much as it has inspired us!
