Showmax confirms the start of production

After a long wait, The Real Housewives is finally coming to Kenya. Showmax has confirmed that the production of the reality show which will be set in Nairobi will begin in September.

The Real Housewives of Nairobi which is a Showmax Original show will debut in 2023  in partnership with NBCUniversal Formats. It will be the 22nd international version of The Real Housewives format and the sixth to be adapted in Africa. 

Who is the producer of The Real Housewives of Nairobi?

At the heart of the production of the most-anticipated reality show in East Africa is Eugene Mbugua’s D&R Studios (formerly Young Rich Television).

D&R Studios has produced some of the biggest award-winning docu-reality shows in Kenya including Our Perfect Wedding, Sol Family which features members of the popular boy band- Sauti Sol and Sol Generation, Kyallo Kulture which features media personality Betty Kyalo and her sisters, and This Love which gives viewers a glimpse into one of Kenya’s power couples lives- Wahu and Nameless.

“The team at D&R Studios is very stoked about the opportunity to produce The Real Housewives of Nairobi, we’ve had a long and good relationship with Showmax, and are very excited to now be working together on an international format. We’ve gone through a very rigorous process of being shortlisted and are now geared up and ready to start production,” said Mbugua.

Like its predecessors in The Real Housewives franchise, The Real Housewives of Nairobi production team promises to deliver a stellar show that will be full of surprises in everything from the cast to the storyline.
