The universe is a box of endless mysteries from secrets of life to death. From days of old, people began tapping into their spiritual side to unveil many of these mysteries or to simply quench a thirst for fame, love, healing or money. Celebrities are no different when it comes to dabbling in black magic or muthi, and as times have progressed most of them do not even hide. Many are openly in touch with their spiritual side and consult their ‘ancestors’ on many things in life.

Some of our fav famous faces have either been suspected, accused or out rightly admitted to using or dabbling in muthi - here they are.

Zodwa Wabantu kicks off the list. There is no doubt that everything about the entertainer is controversial in one way or the other. From dating ‘Ben10’s’, being a self-proclaimed panty-less dancer and getting banned from multiple countries, she really has a way of getting the people talking. As controversial as she is, Zondwa still sent shock waves across her fanbase when she openly admitted that her success can be attributed directly to her use of muthi. She reiterated her admission when she posted a video of herself on Instagram visiting and consulting with a traditional doctor.

Next is singer and actor Sjava. The entertainer has also been very vocal about his use of muthi and prides himself in the fact that it is a cultural practice he engages in. Although he has not out rightly attributed his success to the cultural practice, a few of his fans have speculated that.

Renowned music producer Mampintsha Shimora takes the next spot on our list. Although he has never out rightly admitted it, he has definitely been accused of using muthi. Shockingly enough, the accusations were made by his ‘father in-law’. During an interview, his ‘father in-law’, Reverend Mbongeni Simelane, alleged that the only reason his daughter was still with Mampintsha, who had repeatedly abused her - even on camera, was muthi.

Another shocker on the list is professional football star Teko Modise. The star has admitted to having several encounters with muthi during his days with football club Orlando Pirates. The footballer has narrated how his former team would use muthi to win matches and players were required to soak their socks in different ‘medicines’ before matches. Crazy right?!

Another fav celeb who stands accused of the practice is none other than Bonang Matheba. After her short love affair with rapper AKA the two fell out and the rapper accused her of using muthi to make him leave his baby mama and fall in love with her. Obviously queen B did not respond to these allegations and soon enough the story died, however, because of how crazy they were, they still live rent free in our heads.

South African sweetheart, rapper and entrepreneur, Boity Thulo closes off our list. This media personality has opened up about her ancestral calling and journey to becoming a sangoma. Although she is not currently ‘practicing’ she has accepted the calling and is embarking on the sacred journey.

Do you know any other celebrities you would add to this list?
