Lamu court has declined to extend the detention of the late Tecra Muigai’s boyfriend Omar Lali over suspected murder charges.This is because he has been in custody for over 12 days and no evidence has been provided against him yet.
Omar was arrested on 3rd May after giving deferring statement on the death of his now deceased girlfriend, Tecra Muigai which prompted police to detect he was hiding some details on the latter’s death.
This is after Tecra succumbed to head injuries on 2nd May. The injuries were reported to have been sustained on April 27th after she allegedly fell down a flight of stairs in a rented cottage she shared with his boyfriend in Shella on Lamu Island.
Tecra was rushed to King Fahad Hospital but after a couple of hours was reported dead due to loss of too much blood. According to an autopsy conducted by chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor, Tecra succumbed to injuries sustained on the left side of her head.
She was buried in a private ceremony at her home in Naivasha a couple of weeks ago.
