Femi One is one of the most iconic rappers in Kenya. From her “Ligi Soo” days with King Kaka to producing a mega-hit, “Utawezana?” with Mejja, she is a real definition of a career woman. And she is not stopping any time soon.
Her style and image have transformed very fast over the years. Femi has quickly transformed from being a tomboy to a girl who is into chic fashion and experimenting with new styles. Her looks are increasingly sexy and feminine.
The “Pilau Njeri” rapper has been into shirt dresses and hoodies only. In fact, as she toured Tanzania recently, that was even more pronounced. The Kaka Empire crew – which she is associated with – took to the neighboring country for a concert.
That’s because Kenya has been on a partial lockdown since COVID-19 came in. After the concert, Femi thanked her fans for the ‘epic’ experience and said she hoped to see them soon.

This was the first time she performed “Utawezana?” in public. The song has brought major controversy. It was the lyrical content that many felt was too sexual. Then came the #UtawezanaChallenge that saw people argue whether Azziad made the song popular or Femi One did.
“The success of the song was a collective effort from myself, Mejja, the producer, video director and fans who participated in the challenge on social media. I was so shocked seeing people trying to discredit me on social media alluding that I don’t deserve the success of Utawezana. Mejja rapped about the same thing in the song but he is not being bashed. I feel so bad seeing people trying to discredit the work I have been putting in through the years,” Femi One said.
It is not known who is right and who is wrong. However, one thing to be sure about, is that both deserve some credit in making the song trend.
