Twitter was on fire yesterday evening, January 23rd when actress Lupita Nyong'o shaded the Kenyan government. The Oscar winning actress was livid that the government, especially the Tourism CS Najib Balala claimed she was unavailable for the ambassadorial position that was later offer to American model Naomi Campbell.

Lupita Nyongo has defended herself after Tourism CS Najib Balala said his ministry had unsuccessfully tried to get in touch with her for 5 whole years.

“I know everybody is asking why not Lupita. Lupita has commitments and her managers cannot allow us to access her. We’ve spent the last five years looking for Lupita,”

Said Najib Balala.

Lupita responded in a tweet that has since gone viral.
Other celebs like gospel musician Kambua went on Lupita’s defence. The KOT were wondering just how inaccessible Lupita is, others saying they should have called her father. Kambua responded to them in Lupita’s defence saying;

“Perhaps Lupita was not keen on taking the job? Also, saying Balala should have called her dad makes me wonder…is she 12? She’s a grown woman, well able to decide what calls to take. Pia…if she’d taken this job there’d still have been things to say to discredit her, no?”

Producer Tedd Josiah also chimed in her defence;

“Have you ever been so frustrated in a country that you decide to leave and when you leave doors start to open for you rapidly? We all know Kenya can be like an abusive husband to those born in Kenya.”

The tweet has created quite a debate on the social platform with many being on Lupita’s side.
