Hundreds of people were rendered homeless in Silanga area of Lang'ata constituency, by a fire that broke out in the middle of the night. The area is under the leadership of the newly elected member of parliament Jalang'o. That being the case the member of parliament came out to make a statement concerning the same and promised the residents that he will help them in rebuilding.

The statement of Jalang'o on his Instagram account read," A very sad evening at Silanga Highrise ward Langata constituency, 100 households have been burnt down , county fire team responded and the fire has been contained."

The former radio presenter further said that they are working hand in hand with the Nairobi governor to help the residents in rebuilding and returning to their normal lives.

"Already working with Gov. @SakajaJohnson to rebuild the homes tomorrow and settle the affected families."

That comes as an assurance to the people of Lang'ata that their leader is concerned and working for their interests. The cause of the fire is not yet known and is subject to investigations.

Going by Jalang'os statement it is not clear if there were any casualties.

A few years ago a similar incident left five people dead and thousands homeless after a fire broke out still in Lang'ata Kijiji slam. The then governor of Nairobi Mike Sonko ordered for an investigation to establish the cause of the fire and the culprits to be brought to book.

Jalang'o already has his hands at work for the people of Lang'ata as just recently he announced receiving  a donation of over 10 million Kenya shillings aimed at helping the people of Lang'ata who are in need of medical attention from Shree Swaminarayan Hospital in Lang'ata.
