The musician announced this today at the party headquarters in Pangani where he was received by the Jubilee party officials.

He said that he has been receiving calls from the residents asking him to contest and that's the reason he has decided to vie to heed to the cries of his people.

In his speech, Bahati said that it was time for the people of Mathare to be led by one of their own adding that he was born and raised in Mathare.

In his submission, Bahati said that the challenge the people of Mathare have been facing is the fact that they have been led by people who are not from the area and who do not know the problems the residents face since they are not from there.

He also added that once he gets to power he will ensure that no child of Mathare will have to face the same challenges he faced when he was growing up.

Bahati will be fighting to unseat Anthony Oluoch who has been the area Member of Parliament since 2017 under the ODM party.

During the press briefing, Bahati also announced that he will be supporting the ODM presidential candidate Raila Odinga in his quest to clinch the presidency under Azimio la Umoja.

Just a few days ago Bahati released a campaign hit titled Fire featuring the ODM leader Raila Odinga. The song is part of the strategy to attract youthful support to the Azimio la Umoja movement which is Raila's presidential campaign vehicle.

The song has the appearance of other Azimio la Umoja supporting politicians among them, Ali Hassan Joho, Junet Mohammed, Kanini Kega, and many others.
