Personal Life

Lilian Ng’ang’a Wangui, age, 36, was born on 22 June 1985  at the Agha Khan hospital in Nairobi. They shortly lived in Nairobi. However, Lilian doesn't have any memories of living in Nairobi as they moved to Kiambu when she was young. She was brought up with both parents and was with her two sisters. She says there is a four-year gap between her and the firstborn. Her younger sister is called Angie Ng'ang'a.

Schooling

Lilian Ng’an’ga studied at Ngathangari Primary School. She then joined Loreto Kiambu Girls High School for her secondary education. She enjoyed Chemistry and English. For her college studies, she pursued Front Office, Hotel Management, Travel and Tourism at the University of Nairobi.

She’s also has a masters degree in project management which she obtained from the Jomo Kenyatta University for Agriculture and Technology.

Career

Lilian Ng’ang’a did not join college immediately after she finished her high school studies. Instead, she did modelling for a year. Those were interesting times for her as she recalled. She then went to the University of Nairobi and studied front office and hotel management.

Safari Park Hotel was Lilian Ng’ang’a’s next stop. She worked at the front office desk and as a cashier.

In 2007, Lilian hit new heights. She joined Kenya Airways where she worked as a cabin crew for six years. She then tried her hand in business unsuccessfully. Her beauty parlour and salons did not make her enough money thus closed.

After her business failed, she joined college and did a degree in travel and tourism. She graduated with first-class honours after which she took a one-year sabbatical. Lilian then got her master's degree in project management. She is now involved in several projects as a project manager.

Businesses

Lilian Ng’ang’a is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Amelly Travel and Tours, a venture she started to explore her love for travel. She also opened a hotel in 2021 known as A&L, her and Alfred Mutua's initials. The idea of opening a hotel was long conceived back when she was at Safari Park.

Lilian Ng’ang’a Foundation

Lilian Ng’ang’a Foundation opened its doors in 2017. The aim of the foundation is to support needy children by giving them basic needs. For girls, the foundation provides sanitary towels so that they won’t miss out on school when they are on their periods.

Relationship

We all know Lilian Ng'ang'a for her high profile relationship with Alfred Mutua. A lot is known about their fallout. We will tell you about that but we also want to let you in on how it all started.

How they met

Lilian Ng’ang’a and Alfred Mutua met on a plane. She was working at Kenya Airways as a flight attendant. Alfred Mutua was the then Government Spokesman. As per Lilian’s narration, they exchanged greetings and Mutua left her with his business card. They were en route to Mombasa and spent 2-3 days there. On his return to Nairobi, Alfred invited Lilian to drinks at Sarova Stanley.

Becoming a couple

Alfred Mutua was married at the time he met Lilian. However, his relationship was on the rocks. He made the bold decision to open up to Lilian Ng’ang’a. As Lilian tells, Alfred Mutua was already planning for their future together.

What more could express how much Alfred wanted Lilian to become Lilian Ng'ang'a Mutua than handing her a ring? After a few dates in, Alfred gave Lilian a ring. However, what seemed like a budding relationship was short-lived. She didn’t want to date a married man. The only way both would be together was if Alfred figured out his situation with his wife at the time.

To demonstrate his seriousness, Alfred finalised his relationship with his first wife. This opened the door for Alfred and Lilian. Lilian says that their relationship was always out in the open from the first day.

The couple lived in Lang’ata. Lilian says that Alfred moved in with her at her apartment where they lived for a year. They then moved to Kileleshwa after he became the Governor of Machakos. This was their residence for eight years.

Although Lilian claims that were not legally married, they both lived together for more than eight years. She even took up his name and became Lilian Ng’ang’a Mutua. She assumed the official duties as Machakos first lady.

Winds of change

Lilian Ng’ang’a and Alfred Mutua’s flowery relationship came to a crashing end as both aired their dirty laundry in public. Lilian Ng’ang’a said that she asked for an amicable separation. Alfred Mutua, through his social media page, acknowledged the separation and said they were still friends and were on good terms.

However, the separation was not without drama. Just after news filtered through that Lilian was seeing rapper Juliani, Lilian claimed that Alfred threatened her. In numerous press conferences, Lilian stated that her life was in danger and told Alfred to stop bullying her.

She even requested the Inspector General of Police to intervene and investigate Alfred for alleged “crimes” committed against her and her friends.

What went wrong?

Lilian Ng’ang’a and Alfred Mutua were together for 10 years. Alfred described them as a "royal couple". So when did the cracks start to appear?

According to Lilian Ng’ang’a, her desire to get a job in line with her professional background unsettled Mutua. She eventually got one and her busy schedule led to quarrels between the two.

Another incident that led to their fallout was Alfred Mutua’s alleged controlling behaviour. She said she always did things his way. Lilian alleged that his behaviour stems from being a senior government official who has control over other people.

Another is to do with alleged inconsistencies in what he said. They did manage to work out their differences at first but gradually things got worse and there wasn't a way back.

As First Lady

Lilian Ng’ang’a assumed the official position of the first lady of Machakos County. She did duty across the county and was often seen by Alfred’s side in official functions.

However, she maintains that she never received any benefits from the government as a result. After Lilian announced their separation, she also relinquished the title of the First Lady.

New love

Lilian Ng’ang’a and Juliani announced they were an item a few weeks after the former separated from Alfred Mutua. The rapper even confirmed that he started seeing Lilian before her separation from Alfred. This was after they met in June 2021.

So what attracted Lilian to Juliani? She says that their values align, they see eye to eye on many issues and he’s made her better. Plus, she realised he was not a bad person after knowing him on a personal level.

Family

Lilian Ng’ang’a parents are Stephen and Lucy Ng’ang’a. She grew up in Kiambu County alongside her two sisters. One of her sisters is known as Angie Ng’ang’a.

Controversy

Lilian’s wardrobe

Lilian Ng’ang’a admitted that social media has made her life difficult. She has been accused of a myriad of things she says are false. As much as some people applaud her sense of fashion, she has come under intense criticism for her style.

When she posted pictures of her in a bikini on Instagram, many people called her out because of her position as the first lady of Machakos County. Lilian’s response was that people should focus their energies on other important matters.

No strings attached

At the height of their acrimonious break-up, Lilian Ng’ang’a claimed that she was not Alfred Mutua’s wife. The couple had lived together for about ten years when she called it quits. According to Lilian, they were only long term partners and didn’t formalise their relationship through the signing of legal documents.

However, the two were assumed to be married as they conducted their affairs in a manner that suggested they were husband and wife.

In comes Juliani

Juliani and Lilian Ng’ang’a have had to defend their relationship since they went public. The timing of their relationship has been highly questioned. It came only two weeks after Lilian left Alfred.

Further, after Juliani stated that he pursued Lilian when she was still with Alfred, some men on social media expressed their disappointment. Juliani broke the "bro code" that “a man should not seduce another man’s woman.”

Threats

Lilian claimed that Alfred Mutua has deliberately been making her life difficult since their separation. As a result, she alleged that her life was in danger.

In an interview with The Standard, she claimed that Mutua sent her death threats. She also claimed that Alfred described her as “enemy no. 1” and threatened to “crush her."

Who owns what?

Lilian Ng’ang’a alleged that Alfred seized her car without her authorisation. She has approached the court to stop Alfred from going closer to her and her properties.

Lilian also claimed that as First Lady, she only got a car from the county government which she says was returned a week before her separation.

As for the A&L hotel, Lilian stated that they loaned money to build the facility thus there is nothing for her to give back. Lilian claimed that Alfred gave away her shares without her consent.

Car

If you’ve followed Lilian Ng’ang’a’s nasty break-up with Alfred Mutua, you will know that one of the things that the former lovers are disputing is a car. Lilian said that she bought it in 2014 and fully registered it under her name. Despite that, she alleged that Alfred stormed into her parking lot, drove off with it and sold her car to a third party.

House

Lilian Ng’ang’a revealed that she lived with her now ex-lover Alfred Mutua in Kileleshwa. Prior to moving there, she lived in Langata.

Net Worth

Lilian Ng’ang’a owns and runs a Travel & Tours Company, Amelly Travel and Tours, and is also a project manager. Though she has accumulated a substantial amount of wealth, details of Lilian Ng’ang’a’s net worth remains unclear.
