Khaligraph Jones was born and raised in Kayole. His real name is Robert Ouko, named after the late politician Dr Robert Ouko, who was assassinated in 1990, the year Khaligraph was born.
In an interview with a local television station, Khaligraph admitted that he was forced to drop out of school when he was in form four because of hardships.
He grew up in Kayole and says that life then was very different and difficult. Nonetheless, he kept chasing a better life and he has been able to achieve that.
Starting at the young age of 19, Khaligraph has seen it all. Be it the recent Wizzo Tano Nane’s unfathomable disses aimed at him or building his way up from scratch.
Now the proud founder and CEO of Blu Ink, Papa Jones acknowledges that though he appreciates his beginnings, the standard he works at now is higher than it used to be.

Khaligraph started his career while in elementary school. He officially started rapping in 2008 at a function named ‘Words and Pictures.’
Barely a year later in 2009, he won Channel O Emcee Africa, the first popular competition that put the spotlight on young Khaligraph. This was one of the first signs of his bubbling potential and what was to come.
In 2018, he released his full-length debut album titled ‘Testimony 1990’. This album won him many accolades.

Khaligraph was crowned the ‘Best Rap Act of the Year at the 2018 Annual African Muzik Magazine Awards, held in Dallas, Texas, the best hip hop act at the Soundcity MVP Awards and was the first Kenyan musician to be nominated for the BET awards.
His song was nominated for the Best International Flow category. He was up against Nasty C, Brazil's DJonga, Ivorian Kaaris and the eventual winner, British grime rapper Stormzy.

This month, he's reminded people why he is one of the best rappers in the game after he clinched two awards at the East Africa Entertainment Awards (EAEA). He was named the Best Male Rapstar/Hip-hop Act as well as the People's Choice Entertainment Awards.
