Dj Mo’s whose real name is Samuel Muraya was born on 31 January 1987 in Murang'a. He later moved to Maragua to live with his grandmother.

DJ Mo’s mixes have been played on-air across the country both on television and radio. He is one of the most talented and popular DJs in the gospel industry. But his journey can be traced back to 2006.

By the time the Pilsner Mfalme Challenge happened in 2010, DJ Mo had been on the decks for four years. 

He entered the competition drawing inspiration from the 2009 Pilsner Mfalme Challenge winner DJ Crowbar. His only ambition was to win. DJ Mo got to the finals of the competition.

Despite his efforts - he slept in the office for an entire month to practise - he lost to his competitor DJ Nelly. 

One of the reasons for that was he mixed gospel songs. The organisers preferred secular DJs as they were in a position to push the beer brand Pilsner. 

Despite his loss, this was a breakthrough competition for DJ Mo. He won the Groove Awards in 2010, an accolade handed to him by the late Chris Kirubi. 

This led to his job at Kirubi’s Captial FM. A week later, DJ Mo landed the Crossover 101 show at NTV. Awards and opportunities continued to stream in for DJ Mo who toured the US and the UK.

DJ Mo was the Crossover 101 deejay for ten years. Throughout that time, DJ Mo appeared on set with different hosts - Nancy Kihenia, Allan Thuo & Faith Muturi. 

When DJ Mo existed crossover101 in 2020 amid a scandal, he hosted it alongside Grace Ekirapa. He has not been in the mainstream ever since.

On Capital FM, DJ Mo’s mixes were played on the Sunday morning breakfast show, The Sound.
