Brenda Wairimu Chebet was born on 3 May 1989 in Eldoret. Her family moved to Mombasa when she was one year old and grew up there. 

Brenda Wairimu has four siblings - three sisters and a brother. Brenda Wairimu's parents are deceased. Her father passed on in 2012.  Her mother Janet Njeri Ngatho died in 2015 due to health complications.

Unlike other actors, Brenda Wairimu did not take part in drama in high school. She came across an audition post on Facebook for the film Changing Times. Without any experience, Brenda Wairimu took the leap of faith and ended up with a role. 

She played Shariffa, a girl who comes from a humble background trying to fit in with the rich kids. She is in university on scholarship and doesn’t want others to find out so she lives a lie.

That was her breakthrough film and led to another Mali: United by Blood. Divided by Greed where she played the role of Lulu Mali, the daughter of Gregory Mali and Mabel. 

Brenda Wairimu was on a roll and got more gigs. In 2012, she featured on the highly-acclaimed MTV Africa series Shuga in the role of Dala. 

In 2013, she played Pamela Oyenga in Kona, a show that aired on Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
