Betty Mutei Kyallo is a media personality, journalist and entrepreneur. She was born in 1989 in Ongata Rongai estate, in Kajiado County. She was born to Julia Ngii and Wilfred Kyallo. Betty Kyallo’s age is 32.

Betty Kyallo is the second born in a family of four. Her other siblings are Brian Kyallo, Mercy Kyallo and Gloria Kyallo. They were largely raised by their mother after her parents separated while they were young. Their father occasionally visited them.

Schooling

For her early primary school education, Betty Kyallo attended Olerai Primary School and later Uhuru Gardens primary school. She later joined Kangundo Girls High school for her secondary education.

Upon completion of her primary and secondary school education, Betty Kyallo joined Daystar University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication.

Career

From a tender age, Betty Kyallo idolised popular media personality and TV anchor Catherine Kasavuli. She liked the way she presented the news. This sparked her curiosity in the industry which saw her pursue a media and mass communication career at Daystar University. 

Betty Kyallo began life in the newsroom as an intern at Standard Group’s owned KTN. She advanced through the ranks and eventually became a senior news anchor. She hosted the popular Friday Briefing show on the group's 24-hour news channel, KTN News.

In 2018, Betty Kyallo left KTN to join Mediamax owned K24. She hosted a show, “Up Close with Betty Kyallo” during the weekend prime time news bulletin,  ”The Weekend with Betty.” This solidified her status as a popular and seasoned media personality. 

Betty Kyallo left K24 under acrimonious circumstances. Around May 2020, media houses conducted massive layoffs as a result of the impacts brought about by the coronavirus pandemic. Betty Kyallo headlined the exit of some of K24's big-name journalists. This was after they took their employer to court over disagreements on payment cuts. That was seemingly her final stint on tv as she is not keen on making a return anytime soon. She is now primarily focusing on her personal interests.

Businesses

Betty Kyallo together with her friend Susan Kaitanny co-owned Posh Palace, a luxurious hair studio & spa. According to Kaitanny, the plan was to bring in Betty because of her influence. However, as Kaitanny further explained, they did not get the profits they expected thus pulling the plug on the partnership. 

This is the move that inspired Betty to open her own luxurious spa, salon and barbershop Hairstudio and Spa, Flair by Betty. She is very loud about it and always posts pictures on Instagram of what they are up to. 

Recently, Betty Kyallo revealed that she’s working on opening a restaurant. To add to the list of her businesses, Betty Kyallo also launched a YouTube channel last year, Betty Kyallo Lately. She shares content on life as a single mum, her adventures, lifestyle amongst other topics. 

She also owns a clothing line, BK Closet. BK Closet opened its doors in early 2021. Betty wants to dress the Kenyan woman after being on the other end for years in the course of her work as a news anchor and influencer.

At the same time, Betty Kyallo was also rumoured to be dating the Governor of Mombasa County Ali Hassan Joho shortly after her breakup with Dennis Okari.

Betty Kyallo was one of the names exposed by controversial blogger Edgar Obare via his social media platforms for allegedly participating in money laundering, locally referred to as ‘wash wash’ business. Efforts by a fan inquiring about the legitimacy of the accusations was met by a “lol” as a response from Betty, which further elicited more mixed reactions on the matter.

Betty Kyallo also made news when a Porsche Cayenne that was gifted to her was repossessed after breaking up with Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho.

Betty is never shy of stirring drama. Early this year, a fan on social media requested Betty Kyallo for her nude pictures. The former TV queen enticed the follower and many others who are following her with a very suggestive response, “Ongea na bibi” which translates to “Talk to your wife”.

The news was dismissed as a marketing gimmick by one of the popular car reseller outlets in Nairobi.

Among other cars she has owned, includes a BMW 320i sedan, and a Subaru WRX STI.

Betty Kyallo is reportedly an owner of an upcoming luxury property in Nairobi. The 88 Nairobi Condominium Tower is located in Upper Hill. It will be the tallest high-end residential building in Sub-Saharan Africa upon completion. The lavish apartment is reportedly worth over Ksh 35 million.

Late 2020, Betty Kyallo announced that their family home in Ongata Rongai is up for sale. They have simply “outgrown their family home” and are looking for a new environment.
