Despite the shortcomings, he was already doing well in comedy. Close to a year after landing a gig on Churchill Live, Eric received the opportunity to have his own comedy show, Hawayu, on KTN. Although the show brought more money and helped build a better profile for Eric Omondi as one of Kenya's top comedians, it was a brief thrill as the show was terminated after one season owing to low ratings. Despite the negative criticism, he was able to better understand his audience and develop more. His show on NTV, Wife Material, also did not survive long.
